St John the Baptist’s and St Martin’s currently have an interim Rector.
In addition there is a ministry team of three Readers:
Robert Pemble is a retired lecturer. He has been a Lay Reader for over 30 years; firstly at Saint Ninian’s and for the last 20 years at Saint Martin’s where he also helps in the duties of Sacristan.
Iain Turnbull is a Lecturer in Social Work in the School of Applied Social Studies at Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen. He is year tutor for the first year of the full-time undergraduate course. His professional interests include work with people with substance use problems, social policy, and the issues of working across disciplines and agencies. He has been Lay Reader at St Martin’s for over 25 years and has been involved in diocesan and provincial matters in a variety of capacities. He once chaired the Provincial Youth Network a long time ago.
Jean Forbes has been a Lay Reader at St. John the Baptist’s since 1991. Before retirement she worked as administrator for Grey Lodge Settlement and also was involved in the Provincial Church being the first woman convening any of the Boards in the Scottish Episcopal Church, her remit being as Convener of the Mission Board. This resulted in her being the first woman on the Standing Committee. She now spends her time enjoying her grandchildren, two of whom live in Australia so must travel there for 6 to 8 weeks each year during Australia’s summer, December and January.
